” The best part of our session was it honestly was the most perfect night. The weather could not have been better, and the dogs seemed very comfortable and acted like themselves so we ended up with so many pictures capturing their personalities and some of the traits we love most about them. Everything seemed to flow fairly naturally and I think that was reflected in the pictures we ended up with.” ~ Erin
I could not agree more. This summer night session could not have been more perfect! Meet Watson and Holmes! Watson, the beagle and Holmes, the handsome black lab were such a fun duo and in one of my favorite locations. This is the most adorable family!
I loved working with Connor and Erin to capture beautiful memories of their sweet adopted pups. “We really wanted some “family” pictures of us with the dogs. We recently all finally moved in together after living in different cities and dating long distance, and capturing this milestone with the dogs in a way that we could look back on and cherish with pictures was very important.”
Understandably and like every client, I understand how you are going into your session that, you’re dogs won’t cooperate which obviously would result in images you don’t love. Patience is the name of the game and they were perfectly patient with their pups. I walked Connor and Erin thru exactly how I work with dogs and all the breaks we would take as I understand dogs have short attention spans. They were all so easy to work with and it’s always funny to watch all the shenanigans that go on behind the scenes. I keep promising to do a behind the scenes! We had lots of laughs with all the craziness and in the end, getting great images is all that matters, no matter what we have to do too get them!
….and in all honesty, many times, those are the BEST images, because they are unrehearsed, just natural moments.
Tell me something special about your dogs: “Both of our dogs are rescues. I rescued the beagle, Watson, over 2 years ago, and we knew we wanted another dog at some point. Given Watson’s name we wanted some kind of Sherlock theme with the other dog’s name, and when my fiancé Connor rescued our lab close to a year ago we both immediately knew Holmes would be the perfect name. Both dogs LOVE laying in the kitchen and watching us intently when food is being cooked, so we refer to them as our “sous chefs.” I adore those names for them and they seriously had me at hello lol! (and of course…I mean who doesn’t work well for food…lol)
I love that it was important to Connor and Erin to have printed products of their furkids. They have a gorgeous selection of prints to either keep in a beautiful keepsake box, or display them in frames.
A single large canvas wall portrait of their family will look amazing displayed in their home. Single images have so much impact and carry a total wow factor. It will be a major conversation starter when they have friends in. Promise.
When I asked them about their overall experience, this is what they shared: “It was amazing and truly better than we could have imagined. We’ve never done professional pictures together, let alone with the dogs, so we leaned heavily on Claudine coaching us and the dogs through the shoot. Claudine also spent over 2 hours walking around taking countless pictures, and we didn’t wrap up the shoot until we all felt like we had gotten the perfect shots. If you’re thinking of a session with your dogs, just do it! Relax and enjoy your session, you will not regret it! Our dogs can be very unpredictable at times, but somehow it all worked out and we got so many amazing photos that we’re excited to share with family and friends, and display all over our house for years to come.”
This is so important to me that my clients have such a special experience but of course, the end result is to have beautiful images of your animals. I like to call it a celebration of your friendship and I think as a pet parent, it’s the very best gift you can give yourself.
You ALL were so fantastic to work with. Fun and easy going and I can’t tell you how important that is when it comes to working with animals. I can’t wait to see what you do with your beautiful prints and I’m happy you will have these for so many years to come!! xoxo
