Late afternoon, at the Franklin Park Conservatory, I had the privilege of photographing Benson and his wonderful family. Benson, the adorable little Westie, is 17 years old, hard of hearing and absolutely loved by his family…. (and by me!!!) This dog is so special and had a perfect day out with his family. The grounds of the conservatory were so pretty and made the perfect backdrop for their session.
Our shoot was super sweet and unlike anything I was expecting. To my surprise, little Benson was full of energy, super playful and fun. Being 17 years old didn’t slow him down one bit. It was such a pleasant surprise and he was so curious. Even after the photoshoot, Benson was still ramped up and excited. I assumed he’d go home and crash for the night but he was loving all the special attention. I think they seem to know when these photo sessions are just for them! XO
I worked as closely with the family as possible, and I knew by the way they talked about him, he was truly special. However, on the day of the shoot, their love for Benson really shined the most. Benson has such a beautiful connection with his family, and that added so much depth to the photos. After losing his home when his previous owner passed, the family adopted him and have bonded with him ever since. They are all very connected and it shows. Benson is extremely spoiled and loved. Even a few days after the photoshoot, the family sent me a picture of Benson out and about, riding bikes with the family. It was sooooooo sweet!!
Working together was super important during the shoot, especially since it was a larger group. Everyone worked extremely well together and handled Benson perfectly. They were so good about trying new things, being creative, and being patient. In the end, we had a lot of fun, got some awesome shots, and of course, some beautiful memories with Benson. A huge shoutout shout out to Christy (Benson’s mom) who was such a help in the planning of all of this. She worked closely with me for tips on putting tether everyone’s outfits and instead of having them all wearing the same thing, she made sure they each looked unique but cohesive. I think she did such an amazing job putting everyone’s outfits together and bringing in different colors, patterns and textures that will all stand the test of time!
Another shout out to Cathy (Christy’s sister and amazeballs client of mine) for coordinating the shoot to begin with. I am sooo happy that this amazing family has incredible images and memories of their sweet little guy! XOXO
