"We should never underestimate the powerful draw of a bond with a being that loves us unconditionally, asking very little in return. Losing this comfort and source of joy can be incomprehensible.” – Linda Lipshutz
I held off on featuring this session as Steve and Vanessa have just recently lost their girl Ember. It is so hard to lose our pets and sadly so many don't understand that bond. It can also be so difficult to see their images as well, although I know one day these images will bring them so much comfort.
But right now the pain of her loss is unimaginable.
I knew from the first moment I spoke with Vanessa that we would work together. I love that instant connection with clients and hearing how she spoke of her girl Ember, told me the whole story. The bond they had with Ember was so strong and it was important for them to capture that and create beautiful memories they would treasure for a lifetime.
From Vanessa: "She is the joy of my life! Silly, sweet, sensitive, sassy, inquisitive and sometimes bossy and demanding!"
Along with having cancer, Ember had many other health challenges. When Vanessa and I first spoke, time was of the essence considering I was deep in my Fall Season and I never like to wait in situations like this. But more importantly, with all Ember was going thru, I was concerned on how she would be feeling for her session and if she would be strong enough for the ride and shoot.
Well, she proved me quite wrong. Boundless energy and I personally think she had the time of her life. She was active, engaged, playful, loved her new surroundings and all out Ember shenanigans. Vanessa also mentioned she can be anywhere from 100 miles an hour to totally chill. I think I saw across the entire radar that day.
Watching the three of them, it was so evident how loved Ember was. It was important this day was so special for them and I hope it was one they will remember for a lifetime. The images we captured together were beautiful and is such a special way to honor their bond.
We created an incredible album from their session day and I know they will cherish this special keepsake. Steve and Vanessa, I'm so sorry for your loss of Ember. I know you are both lost without her. I hope the images and memories we created together will one day bring you so much comfort and bring you back to that day over and over.
She gave us so many laughs. Thank you for sharing your beautiful sweet girl with me and trusting me with her memories. xoxo
