I loved this session with Max and his Mom in Las Vegas. I can’t believe I’m going to say it, but weather almost became an issue. I know! It rains like 3 days a year in Las Vegas, and it just so happened to choose the day I was there and shooting.
We did have some drizzle and even some crazy winds, which is nothing new, but we managed and got some great images and had a blast in the making!
Max’s story told by his mom:
I’ve had 3 Rottweilers over the past 18 years, with Max being my 3rd. All have been rescues. I lost one in 2008 and when the other passed in Oct 2011, I was beyond devastated and I knew I wanted to rescue another.
When I was ready to bring another into my life, I started checking all the local shelters and rescues to no avail. I decided to try Petfinder and the first photo to come up was Max, at 7 months old.
Yikes! I didn’t really want a puppy but he was so adorable. I decided I wanted to meet him and hoped he would be a good match for our 8-year-old Dobie mix. I got in contact with Miracle Animal Rescue in Lake Elsinsore, CA some 80 miles away. He had only been posted less than an hour and already had 7 applicants!
Max’s life didn’t start out well, but thankfully a rescue group stepped in and pulled him from the shelter at a very young age, and he was given a chance. I had arranged a meet and greet, and I knew he was coming home with me from the start.
His whole life changed that day. He met his new older brother Taz that taught him fun stuff, like Jeep rides, runs in the desert and how to eat ice cream cones. Max was the perfect match for our 8-year-old because he wasn’t your typical puppy, he was very calm and docile.
As a matter of fact, he is so docile that when I take him to training, he would do 2 of the exercises and then lay down and take a nap. He missed out on the things puppies learn in the early stages like how to play, enjoy being with other dogs or just getting loved and cuddled, but he just absolutely loves being around people, and people love him.
In spite of all his weird quirks and fears of certain things, by far, he has to be the most gentle and kind spirited dog I have ever had, and that’s just one of the several reasons I love him so much.
This past November, he was diagnosed with severe hip and joint arthritis so it was very important to me to get these photos done because I don’t know what the future holds for us at this point.
Loved this session, and I hope you enjoy some of their favorites below…xo
